Bike Month 2022
Bike Month is a celebration of bicycles as a fun and healthy way to get to work, as well as an opportunity for those who don’t usually bike commute to try it out! It’s also a time to advocate for improved bicycle infrastructure and safety.
Bike Month Challenge- This year, Solano Mobility will host events throughout May to celebrate #BikeMonth. We’re Kicking it off with our #BikeMonth challenge. Sign up on our Commute Solano platform (commuterinfo.net), log 5 trips and get rewarded with a $10 gift card of your choice.
Bike to School Day- Each May, students across Solano County strap on their helmets, hop on their bikes and pedal to school on National Bike to School Day, as part of National Bike Month. The Solano Safe Routes to School program sponsored the first event in 2013 and participation continues to grow. This year, Bike to School Day will be held on May 4th. For more information on how your school can participate visit Solano Safe Routes to School.
Bike to Work Day- On May 20th, we’ll celebrate Bike to Work Day. Volunteers will pass out free bags in the early morning commute hours at the Suisun Amtrak station, Vallejo Ferry building, and on the Benicia Bike path. Fisk’s Cyclery in Dixon, Rays Cycle in Vacaville, and Wheels in Motion in Benicia will have bags available all day. Come by and learn more about Bucks for Bikes and our other commuter incentive programs.
Bike Champion of the Year -In March, nominations opened to honor your favorite bike commuter of the year. We chose someone who champions pedaling, inspires others, and sets a great example for how bicycling is good for them, the environment and their community. Check out our 2022 winner here!
Community Bike Rides- Lastly, we’ll celebrate with community bike rides throughout Solano County. For more information on the Vallejo Bike ride, click here. For more on the Benicia ride, click here.
